You can start the theory course at 16 and a half. You may sit the theory exam from 16 years and 9 months, and take the road test once you turn 17. It is worth starting early so you are ready for the road test by your 17th birthday.

Two to three months on average, though it largely depends on how often you can take driving lessons. One deadline matters: you must pass the road test within 2 years of passing the theory exam, otherwise the whole course has to be repeated.

A minimum of 29 practical hours plus 1 exam hour, and at least 580 km driven. That is the legal minimum. If you do not feel confident after those hours, we take extra lessons — we never push anyone towards the exam.

Automatic is easier and frees up attention while driving, but an automatic-only licence restricts you to automatic cars. If you want to drive a manual later, start with a manual. Automatic training costs 12,000 HUF/hour with us.

An ID card or passport, an address card, a valid group I medical fitness certificate, and proof of at least primary school education. Foreign nationals also need their residence documents. If you started training at another school, a transfer certificate is required too.

Official exams are held at the Debrecen site of KAV, the national transport aptitude and examination centre: Széchenyi utca 46/B, 4025 Debrecen. During lessons we also drive the routes used in the exam area so the roads feel familiar.
